When there is a child with autism in the classroom, the space should be well designed. The classroom is filled with sensory stimuli (auditory and visual) that can greatly disturb the child. The order in the classroom is extremely important for the child – everything has its place. This familiar order provides calmness and emotional balance. Unnecessarily complex and distracting information should be avoided in teaching. The child with autism has difficulty in understanding complex and abstract sentences and cannot interpret metaphors and slang words. Therefore, you should use clear and concise sentences and additional aids such as visual aids, photographs, etc. It should not be forgotten that people with autism find it difficult to cope with new and unexpected events. For the student with autism, the transition from one activity to another is difficult and can lead to increased anxiety, unusual and inappropriate behavior. Planned transitions help the student adapt to the changes and it reduces anxiety and emotional breakdowns. For example, when planning to go out of school (an excursion, a field trip), the preparation of the student with autism begins in advance. The remaining days can be counted on a calendar. A few days before the planned event, it is good to look together at photos and tell the student stories about the place that will be visited. Another example is when a student goes to a new school, preliminary visits should be organized to let the child get acquainted with the new place. The duration of each visit should be gradually increased. This would reduce the stress of change. Users – school teachers, special educators, psychologists.
